Qualifications & Experience
I am a New York State certified Spanish teacher in grades 7th to 12th.
I have taught Spanish in the US full time for 14 years. I am a Spanish Language teacher, I am bilingual (English-Spanish) and have lived in the US for 40 years.
Teaching Approach
I create Spanish lesson that are engaging for all of my students. My goal is to help my students build their confidence In producing comprehensible input and output of the target language.
For students who are brand new to the language the objective is to cover the basic vocabulary and grammar with much repetition. The curriculum moves the student through different topics such as daily and leisure activities, describing people and places, shopping, restaurant and health. As students progress they engage in more advanced types of dialogues using increasingly complex grammar. The most advanced students greatly benefit from one on one dialogues and timely corrections on pronunciation and grammar. Lessons are tailored to their interests.
Students benefit the most when they practice the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking activities both in class and outside of class.
