Hello Students! My name is James. I am new to Verbalplanet, but enjoy sharing the English language with others. I have successfully tutored and taught many students in different countries. I am from the USA, where I was born and studied. My academic degrees include a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Master of Science in Aviation, and Master of Arts in English. I also have a TOEFL Certificate from Bridge-Linguatec in Denver, Colorado.
We can work toward any kind of goal that you set. I enjoy teaching adults – high school or university students and professional men and women – and will teach beginners or create specialized subject lessons for intermediate or advanced students. Our lessons will practice everyday conversational English, prepare you for job or university interviews, or we can practice professional English. If you work with native English speakers and want to improve your speaking skills with them, we can work toward that goal. As a native English speaker, I can help make your speech more natural and enrich it with slang and terminology.
I have traveled to about 40 countries and lived and worked in universities for many years in several regions outside the USA: the Caribbean, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, so I have much experience with accents, expressions and sentence structures. Because of my education and background, I also know very specialized vocabularies in business and aviation. We can develop vocabulary and language skills in business, investments and banking, or in Aviation and Travel. If you want to prepare for IELTS, TOEFL or for university admission we can do that preparation. Or, if you want to write for publication I also have much experience to share. Whatever level of English you have we can set goals and work together toward your success.
Contact me and we will make a plan that meets your needs for a great future!

The student goal is the focus of our lessons. We begin with a review of the past lesson and a preview of what will be in this lesson. My lessons are designed to increase vocabulary, improve conversation, and model good sentences. I provide immediate comments to students, so they receive dynamic learning about mistakes or other ways to express their thoughts. We review what was covered in the lesson. We summarize, and there are suggestions about what to practice or study for the next session.
