About me - English
Hi, my name is Carlisle. I’m from the beautiful island of Barbados but currently living in Guyana, and I am a native English speaker. I can also speak Mandarin Chinese and have experience in teaching it at beginner and intermediate level. On a personal level, I do volunteer work helping people. I love music, I love dancing and I love to laugh , so I look forward to working with you on this new and exciting journey of learning a new language. See you soon!
Qualifications & Experience
At High School, I gained certificates in both English Language and English Literature and I have my associate degree in Computer Studies. I have also done a 160 hour course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and have obtained my TEFL certificate. Over a seven year period in brief stints, I have taught Mandarin Chinese at both beginner and Intermediate level. I also have tutored over brief stints, Basic English to non native speakers.
Teaching Approach
My teaching methods are fun and interactive. I also use techniques that include muscle memory exercises to help you learn vocabulary easily and quickly. In working with you I will make sure your pronunciation is correct, we will work on grammar and sentence structure. Conversation is one of the best ways to learn a new language so rather than boring dictation drills, we will focus on using the new vocabulary in practical ways.
