About me - English
Hello, my name is Eleonora and I am an Italian native speaker.
I live in a tiny village on the hills near Pesaro, a beautiful town on the Adriatic Sea, in the center of Italy.
Since childhood I have had a great passion for language studies, this is the reason why I studied foreign languages (English and French) at high school and decided to go further studying East Asian Languages and Cultures at Ca' Foscari University in Venice where I graduated (MA) in Japanese language and culture.
I concentrated my studies on language history and philology. At high school, I studied Latin, which helped me gain a better understanding of Italian and other European languages. While at University I studied Chinese, ancient Chinese and ancient Japanese to deepen my knowledge on the history and evolution of the Japanese writing system.
I lived both in Tokyo and for about two years in Osaka where I worked as an Italian language teacher (both online and in traditional schools) for Japanese students.
I also worked for several years as Customer Service for different Italian companies where I had the opportunity to improve my knowledge of business and technical vocabulary not only in Italian but also in other foreign languages.
Since I became a mother, I have also developed an interest in children's education, especially in the Montessori method and for this reason, I joined as a volunteer a local association promoting this method in Italian schools.
I am a friendly and open person. People often tell me that I am a discreet and a good listener, qualities I consider very helpful in understanding and fulfilling my students' real learning needs.

Teaching Approach
For many years I have been, (and still am) a language student: this long experience makes me able to understand the difficulties that learners from different countries have to face when approaching the Italian language.
During the first lesson I usually start assessing students' real needs and proficiency level, then I prepare tailor-made classes focusing on each student's goals (from grammar to everyday conversation or business Italian).
I always do my best to create a positive environment and motivate students with interesting learning materials (Italian newspapers, videos, songs or quizzes).
My teaching approach is supportive and empathic: mistakes are not something to be afraid of, but a fundamental step in the learning process.
Finally, with my lessons, I hope to be able to immerse you in the Italian culture and give you a taste of my wonderful country.
