My name is Isabelle. I was born and raised in France. French is my native language. I moved from France for my husband’s work to live in US Missouri, then to the New York area. I can speak the following languages fluently : French - English.
I have been tutoring French since 2013. I am currently teaching French to adults/seniors and I am very passionate about what I do.
Thanks to all my students and their comments.
* "Isabelle is a wonderful teacher. She is patient, kind, caring, has a good sense of humor and is very creative." Margaret---
* "Isabelle is a terrific teacher, who engages the class in the fun activities that help all of us improve our French, no matter our level. For beginners and advanced speakers alike, Isabelle creates a comfortable, non-threatening atmosphere that gives all of us the courage to speak and learn. I love this class and try not to miss it – ever!" Kathy---
* "Isabelle welcomes her students warmly, treats each member with dignity and respect—despite different ages, abilities and skill levels--and encourages each one of us to speak, read, listen, and write in French. Her lessons are creative and engaging. Building community and trust in the library classroom setting, Isabelle adds humor and charm to her exercises and listens attentively to our responses, correcting us when appropriate, without humiliation. Using a variety of techniques--worksheets, YouTube videos, French music and news, improvisation, theatrical interpretations, questions and answers--Isabelle involves everyone, from the most courageous to the most reticent student. I feel fortunate to work with her and look forward to being her student for many years to come." Linda
I teach French to seniors, adults and teenagers (starting 13 and up).
I am flexible, patient and an easy-going person. I am eager to see my students succeed and accomplish their goals. I work hard to create material, find real documents and do what is necessary to make sure my students enjoy each lesson.
In my free time, I love to exercise, read, spend time with my family and my friends. I also have a cooking blog -zazacook.com- where I enjoy posting and sharing new recipes.
I have French certifications to teach French as a second language (Cavillam Alliance Française).
I taught French for 5 years in a bilingual school and assisted the French teacher in a middle school for one year (New Jersey- US).
I have been teaching French to adults/seniors (beginners and intermediate class) since 2016. I have successfully organised by myself, two classes of French conversation (one beginner and one intermediate). I have also been giving private / semi-private lessons since 2014.
Before beginning a lesson, I love spending time speaking French with my students to warm up. I think speaking is the best way to learning a foreign language. It’s also important for me to provide a dynamic and a fun learning environment.
My lessons focus on the four aspects of language learning for everyday life: Listening and speaking, reading and writing.
If you are planning on taking a trip to Paris soon and need some basic skills, I can help you! If you want to learn some French to impress your friends and family, I can help you! I can also train you to get the DELF certifications. I offer a variety of courses whether you’re starting from scratch, studying at school, brushing up on your conversational skills.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
My first lesson is free.
