About me - English
I was born and grew up in Russia, but for the last 15 years lived and worked as a teacher in various countries – Syria, Saudi Arabia, the USA, and Croatia. During this period I taught both Russian and English, to children as well as adults. Last summer my husband and I moved – for good – to his native Austria.
Apart from teaching, I also am a semi-professional photographer (graduated from the New York Institute of Photography), and run some historical projects in the USA and Croatia.
Literature, history, theatre, photography, art, and hiking take a great place in my life.
Qualifications & Experience
I earned an MA Degree (1992) and Ph.D. Degree (1998) in Philology (Russian language) in the Rostov State University in Russia as well as CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) in Edinburgh, UK in 2006, and attended a training course for language instructors at the Berlitz language center in New York, USA in 2009.
Since 1992 I have been teaching Russian as a native, second or foreign language, as well as English as a foreign language in various countries.
I have worked both in private and language schools, as well as in a university, and did private tutoring, too.
I have taken part in a number of international conferences dedicated to linguistic and teaching methods issues, and published some articles on related themes.
Teaching Approach
In my lessons I focus first of all on learner´s needs. Having been a language student myself, I have understanding and patience and can clearly see what my students need most.
My teaching methodology combines language awareness and practical techniques, and is based on interactivity.
Lessons are held in a relaxed and enjoyable manner. As a teacher, I always strive to bring out the best in learners, encourage them to speak, involve them in conversation, and help them to cope with lack of self-confidence.
I am a passionate teacher who loves her job. During long years of teaching I built friendships with most of my students, and am still in touch with some of them.
Please feel free to book a free trial lesson with me or send me an email with your questions.
