I am Bircan, native Turkish and a qualified and experienced Turkish Language teacher.
I studied Turkish Language Education, Masters and PhD in Turkey. I have been teaching Turkish for over 12 years to many different students who come from different cultures. I have taught Turkish at SOAS University of London for more than two years. I really enjoyed being at SOAS University of London and fund it to be a culturally diverse and cosmopolitan city. Recently I have started to work at an university in Turkey.
I would like to teach Turkish to anyone who has passion to learn and wants to learn an elegant form of Turkish. I consider myself as a friendly, highly motivated person and very passionate about my language. I have been teaching Turkish at various levels, including GCSE/A-Level and exam preparation.

In addition, I have been doing many kinds of research on the Turkish language, teaching Turkish to foreign students and bilingualism education. Some of my research manuscripts were published in the international journals in education and I presented some of them at the international symposiums, conferences and congresses such as International Conference for Academic Disciplines at the University of London and International Conference for Turkish Language and Literature at International Burch University in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
I use different approaches in my classes as every individual is unique in their abilities, aptitude and preferred learning style, I endeavour to tailor each program of lessons accordingly using a combination of differentiated and varied materials.
Firstly I am organised for every lesson. I would always like to make sure that I am prepared for the lesson that I understand the aims of the session and to make lesson plan. Secondly, I make sure that my students are comfortable and ready to start learning and I always ensure what the students want to learn in each session. My lesson is never boring and never passive for either the students or the teacher.
I use my own materials to teach and also use other materials from other experts. Generally I prefer to use cultural objects about Turkey and Turkish. Thus the students will be able to think and speak easily like a native Turkish.
It does not matter whatever the reason is why you want to learn Turkish for, i.e. for travel, to use in daily life, for your business, for academic Turkish or whether you need to prepare for GCSE/A-Level Turkish, we can work together.
Bircan prepared the lesson in advance, sending materials ahead the lesson and giving a good structure to the coursework. Would recommend her lessons.
For some reason I had to stop studying for a couple of months.During that time Bircan was sending me some vocab and exercises not to allow me to completely forget the language. Now coming back to the classes I feel so much fit and thankful.
Bircan always has exercises and homework for me. Now I am watching Turkish movies to help my ear learn the sounds and words. Today I was almost able to have a small conversation, so I can definitely see progress in speaking and listening.
Good lesson, thank you for your patience and good explanations.
