Fantastic lesson, very fun and enjoyable. Serena gives feedback when needed and is encouraging. We practiced a lot of speaking, we spoke about interesting subjects and she gave me some new vocabulary which allows me to better express my opinions. Thx
About me - English
Ciao! I am a linguist and a teacher of Italian, English and French as foreign languages. A job that I truly adore!
I hold a Bachelor in Applied foreign languages and a post-graduate certification in teaching Italian as a foreign language issued by the University of Venice in Italy (aka CEDILS). I am passionate language learner myself. Learning the foreign languages that I speak has been one of the best investments in terms of time and money that I have ever made, because it eventually allowed me to open up to many different cultures and countries, making friends from literally all over the world and understanding their cultures better by speaking their native languages in some cases and last but not least, it boosted my memory and cognitive skills A LOT! Learning a new language helps our brains to stay fit the same way as training at a gym helps our body to be healthy. I have lived and taught languages in France, Italy, Spain, Slovakia and recently in Japan.
My passions include art, cinema, books and delicious food. Want to know thy I teach on line? Because I can work from anywhere, I can travel and stay at home, as much as I want. And I love it! I blog about Italian too sometimes.

Teaching Approach
First of all, I would like to stress that my teaching approach might vary importantly depending on the learning approach of the student. I strongly encourage my students to develop their own method of learning languages, through my help. This is why rather then a teacher, I like to call myself a Language Coach. During my classes, motivation plays an important roll. I try to motivate the students by setting up short term goals and by fostering their love for the language and culture they are studying with me.
I tend to use a book with beginners which I combine with material and activities I create. The book is crucial especially for homework and self study. As for the class as such, I try all the time to have the student step out of his (her) confort zone and try to speak what has been discussed and studied during the class. On rotation, I cover all the four skills of the language practise: listening, writing, speaking and reading. I place a lot of importance on building a nice vocabulary and lots of collations from the first class.
As for the more advanced students, I tend to place more importance on speaking and listening. Rather the book a a guide, I tend to use authentic material that I take out from books, blogs or the Italian press.
