My name is Jen. I am a native English speaker and have lived in the United States all my life. I am a 38 year old wife and mother to 4 fabulous children. In addition to teaching my English students I teach my children daily and understand the challenges and successes that come with different learning styles. No two English learners are the same and I pride myself on my ability to adapt.

I love languages! I love to teach and I love to learn. I believe education should be a life long pursuit.

My family and I love to travel and spend time together. We have 2 dogs and we love an active lifestyle!

I certified as an Advanced TEFL (Teaching English To Foreign Learners) Teacher. In addition to my 120 hour TEFL training I am also qualified in the following language specialties: English for Young Learners and Business English.

In addition to these qualifications I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.

I have tutored hundreds of students ranging in age from 5 years old to Adult and beginning level to advanced. I enjoy all levels of learning and welcome students at any skill level and age.

I absolutely LOVE teaching English. I am patient and thorough and ensure my students understand concepts before moving forward. My goal is always to build a solid foundation in all 4 key areas: Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening. Conversation and role playing is key to building confidence with a new language. I spend a great deal of time with real world examples and scenarios.

During your first lesson I will discuss your goals and objectives and together we can plan future lessons based on your specific needs. It is extremely important to me that you learn what you want to learn!

Young Learners: I adore working with young learners and have extensive experience with children ranging in age from 5-12 years old. I am patient, kind and funny (if I do say so myself :) I reinforce learning in all 3 learning styles, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. I keep the class moving and vary activities in order to accommodate young learner's attention spans. I carefully consider the parent's goals for their children and give feedback and updates after every lesson.

Teenagers: I work very hard to prepare lessons for my teenage students that are both challenging AND fun. I have 2 teenagers of my own and I completely understand the need for lessons to be engaging and interesting so that the teen wants to continue their studies. I incorporate topics that are of interest to my students. Learning should be enjoyable! I carefully consider the parent's goals for their children and give feedback and updates after every lesson.

Business English: Confidence is key! I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Management as well as my specialized training in teaching Business English. I am equipped with all the tools necessary to instruct my students in Business English. I understand that conducting business successfully requires confidence and preparedness. My business students usually have a clear idea of what they want to focus on. With this in mind, I develop lesson plans based on the individual's topics of interest. Many common topics include: reading and writing business contracts, interviewing skills, telephone skills, and negotiating skills. These are just ideas. As I mentioned before, I prepare what the student requests for their lessons.
