Hello, my name is Christopher Tooze and I'm an experienced native English language tutor currently living in the United Kingdom. I have been teaching English online since 2017. I am currently offering a free initial trial lesson for new students.
About me - English

Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Chris, and I am a native, English speaker, living in Folkestone, England. I specialise in improving general conversation skills and business lessons for adult students at intermediate and advanced levels. I have taught over 500 online lessons to students from all over the world. Today, as well as teaching online, I work as a freelance teacher with mature students, on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, at one of most prestigious, and longest established schools in Canterbury.

In my spare time I enjoy cycling, reading and learning languages (I'm an intermediate learner of Italian and a beginner in German). I'm a big football fan, but I also interested in politics, history, heritage and cultural issues generally. I enjoy travelling. I particularly love Italy and all things Italian, but I'm also really keen to explore more countries in the next few years, and I'm planning to visit France, Scandinavia and Southern Italy later this year.

I believe that learning online using Skype can be very rewarding for adult students, but making lessons interesting is the most important way to help you keep motivated. Have a look at the 'Teaching Methods' section below for more details.

Teaching Approach

Learning a language can be hard work, as I know from my own experience of learning languages, and because I have been lucky enough to work with hundreds of different students. No two students are the same, so I will make sure that lessons focus on how you want to learn. However, from experience I know that many students choose online learning because they want to find a new way too stay motivated and increase their confidence about speaking. They do not want to spend ages on homework tasks or learning grammar rules, they want to enjoy using what they know.

To help you do this I offer two main types of lesson:

1. General conversation and cultural classes which focus on giving you the chance to speak on any topic you like. You will learn from the error corrections and questions that I ask you. If you have been studying English for a long time, and are finding it difficult to stay motivated, or struggling to have the confidence to speak, then these are the classes for you.

2. Business classes which are more specifically targeted to learning specialist vocabulary and using this in specific business contexts through role-plays and other speaking tasks.
