Hi, my name is Diana and I was born in Colombia, but I love to travel and get to know different cultures so I move around South America constantly. I have lived in Perú, Chile, Ecuador and off course Colombia.

I enjoy reading, writing, singing, playing the guitar and the ukulele, dancing, being a mom... and teaching.

I studied Literature and took several courses on Pedagogie. I also have Ancient Greek notions and speak German at a basic level.

I have worked for over 8 years as a language teacher: at a school, a language institute and as a freelance, teaching both English and Spanish.

I have experience teaching kids, teenagers and adults, giving writing courses, teaching English to managers and entrepreneurs, tutoring people with reading difficulties, teaching conversational English and business English, preparing students for international tests such as TOEFL. I have also worked coordinating teachers at an institute, which included training staff.

I believe the student should be the main character in any learning process. I also consider that, instead of learning a language per se, the goal should be to learn to communicate and think in a particular language.

For this I propose using activities such as dialogues, role-plays, giving speeches and discussing about oral and written texts, writting different kinds of texts and even playing and sharing about our daily lives, in order to develop communicative skills. Grammar and vocabulary can be learnt from this basis. I think creating a safe and empathic learning enviroment through respect for the students interests and learning style is a must.

Therefore in the first session I like to talk about personal and professional interests, the motives the students have for learning a new language and the experience they have had so far with that language, in order to tailor together a plan that can satisfy the students objectives through a fun process.
