About me - English
I am a professional and supportive TEFL Tutor who has a wide range of experience teaching one-to-one and in the classroom. I have a background in communications, business and law and I am proficient to teach English in all of these areas. I offer general English, Business English and Legal English lessons to any student that would like to develop skills in these areas. I am available to teach written and spoken English to students of any age and nationality that would like to improve their skills.
During my initial trial lesson with a student I like to assess their individual needs to decide the best approach in helping the student achieve their goals. My lessons are well structured and planned in way that is tailored to each student or group.
Qualifications & Experience
I am TEFL qualified (120 hour course achieved with Merit) and a graduate of Law from the University of Edinburgh. I have delivered communications training in the education, corporate and public sectors' over the past 15 years. I have been an ESOL teacher for the UK Government for the last 2 years, teaching groups and individuals from different countries and cultures.
From 2009 to 2012 I taught English in a school in Asia and in the business sector for local graduates of law. Prior to 2009 I had career in international sales and marketing, with extensive experience writing and presenting in the international business sector. I am experienced in teaching individuals from 5 years onwards and I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals and potential in language learning.
Teaching Approach
On assessment of each student or group, my approach is to develop an overall lesson plan which focuses on helping the student to develop their goals. The lesson will involve a combination of spoken and written exercises, which are clearly explained and interactive so that progress is assessed regularly. Grammar and vocabulary will be taught through a combination of question and answers sessions, visual images, conversation practice and homework exercises between sessions.
I will use materials gathered from my teaching training and past experience to make sure that my student(s) are learning in varied ways, to keep the lesson fun, interesting and engaging. I will send an overview of each lesson after each session has ended so that students can reflect on what they have learned and focus on areas where they would like to improve.
