Detailed Profile in English

About me

Hello! My name is Adele and I am from The United States. I have over 3 years experience teaching and tutoring English language and composition.

I also have lived abroad in Tokyo, Japan for one year, where I taught English at an English conversation school. I am very familiar with the process of learning a new language, as I had to learn Japanese myself! I understand both the challenges and joys in this journey, and am well prepared to help you with every step.

I have taught students ranging from ages 11 to 70, so I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and levels. I have taught both business and conversational English, as well as test preparation. In addition to teaching in Japan, I tutored English for two years in college, and have taught online.

My main goal in teaching English is to have it be an ENJOYABLE experience. My lessons revolve around not only the student's goals, but also their personal interests. My previous online lessons included using real world articles, film scripts, book summaries, and comic strips in learning English. I also make sure that textbook learning relates to a student's own life, whether they are focusing on a future business meeting or attempting to make conversation with a foreigner. All of my teaching is goal-driven, while maintaining a positive and fun atmosphere.

Teaching Approach

As stated above, my teaching approach is to create an encouraging and exciting atmosphere. I believe learning a language should be a positive experience, not a negative one. I also believe in the value of relating studies to a student real life, in order to make the most of what they are learning.
