About me - English
I earned my Bachelor’s in Philosophy and my Master’s in International relations. I have traveled to over 20 countries on four continents. I love learning about different cultures and can easily connect with individuals from around the world. My hobbies include traveling, running, reading philosophy, learning Mandarin. Although I am not fluent, I have a deep appreciation for spoken Mandarin and its written art form. As a language student myself, I can empathize with my students regarding the difficulties of memorizing and understanding new words and concepts. Learning English can also be intimidating, but I know that I have the social and intellectual abilities that will allow students to flourish. I am confident that I will succeed as an English teacher with Verbalplanet because I am a very dedicated and hardworking individual and I put 100% into all endeavors that I take on.
Qualifications & Experience
I am TEFL certified. I have been teaching English for about eight months. I am very happy teaching and I have a lot of fun doing it! I have taught individuals of all ages and speaking levels from toddlers who were being introduced to the alphabet to working professionals who were learning English to advance their careers. I have also taught classes with up to 30 students as well as 1-on-1 sessions.
Teaching Approach
My lessons are based on the level of English that my students know or are comfortable with. I will gear lessons towards the goals and motives that students have for learning English. For example, if a student is a working professional in the field of Marketing, I will create lessons that are based on marketing and other business terms and concepts that are needed to succeed in that field. If a student is a younger child, I will create lessons that are geared toward their level and interests (such as incorporating animals and fun games). I want to help students learn English in order to attain their short-term and long-term goals. I will incorporate grammar concepts based on the level of the students. I am very patient with students and take the time needed to make sure they are pronouncing words correctly, understanding their meaning and using them correctly in context.
