About me - English
Hello! My name is Valentine, and l'm an experienced French native speaker from Orléans, a city near Paris. Today l live in Carlisle, England, to be with my partner, who is British. Therefore, l speak a very fluent English too.
My hobbies? Sharing good talks with my friends around a cup of tea, reading French literature and talking about news and what is happening in our world. Traveling and discovering new cultures is also very precious for me, l've already been to different countries such as Cuba, Guatemala, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Madeira, Slovenia, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
I have a licence in French literature and two master degrees: the first in French writing and the second in journalism. During my studies, l moved a lot in France (Paris, Lyon, and Nice) and l also spent a few months in northern England for an Erasmus program.
I worked as a communication agent for a French city council and then as a local journalist in the main newspaper of Orléans.
Since l've moved to England, l've spent a lot of time teaching new friends and relatives my mother tongue, French.
Sharing with someone a new language and a culture is an amazing experience, so l've decided to become a French teacher.
Teaching Approach
Because learning and speaking a new language can be intimidating and sometimes overwhelming, my teaching approach focuses on respect and trust.
Whatever your French level is, beginner or advanced, l will listen to you and your requests. Our first hour together will be dedicated to getting to know you a bit more and determining your level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) and what you need to improve your skills. We will then set a goal together.
Oral is very important when it comes to learning a new language. Talking and listening are the main keys. We will also reinforce your new knowledge with some exercises based on grammar, conjugation, and vocabulary.
Every student is different, and l adapt my program for each of you.
Oh, and my goal? Make sure you enjoy your class and have fun learning French ,) !
