Hello, my name is Julien Ruzzi and I'm 40 years old and currently living in Portugal. I am a native French speaker and teach English, French. I have taught online with Verbalplanet.com since January 2010. I can speak the following languages fluently: French, Chinese Mandarin, English, Italian, Portuguese - Europe. I am currently offering a discounted initial trial lesson at 50% of my normal lesson price for new students.

Detailed Profile in English

About me

I love languages, and I can think of no better way to learn them than on the spot, or in cyberspace!

I have traveled and lived in quite a few countries already (the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, French Guyana...), and there I met very different personalities and cultures which helped turn me into a citizen of the world! And thanks to the Internet and "Skype Airlines", the potential for discovering new people is now limitless...

Qualifications & Experience

Degrees:

TEFL certified (2010) i-to-i (on-line certification)

English Agregation (2002) - Lyon, France (Université Lyon II)

Master in English (2001) - Chambéry, France (Université de Savoie)

Bachelor in French Literature (1997) - Chambéry, France (Université de Savoie)

Professional Experience (before or simultaneously with VerbalPlanet):

To focus on my studies (Mandarin Chinese), I'm currently on a leave of absence from the French Education Nationale where so far I have worked for 9 years as an English teacher (for both junior high/high school students and undergraduate students).

I was also a French Native Speaker for 3 years in both the U.K. and the U.S.A. (for both junior high/high school students and university students).

Finally, I worked for one year for Berlitz (in Brussels) as a French Trainer (my students were all adults).

Teaching Approach

My approach is, dialogue, dialogue, dialogue! We speak, we stumble, we get back up: We progress!

I have made a fool of myself so many times while speaking a foreign language that I don't think you need to worry about making mistakes when studying with me.

I believe that what matters the most is communication, and that grammar should only be a means, not an end.

And let's have some fun, shall we? :)

Detailed Profile in French

About me

Qualifications & Experience

Diplômes :

TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language), 2010 : i-to-i (formation en ligne)

Teaching Approach

I just had my first french lesson with Julien. He made our conversation in french seem so easy. I was relaxed and did not think to much. My sentences were still filled with mistakes but they came naturally. Am looking forward to the next one.
