I graduated from Havana University, Cuba, with a diploma in Spanish Language Teaching and Literature. I have more than 35 years of teaching experience, not only in my country of birth, but also in Canada and United States as well.

My pedagogical experience is not only in the teaching of Spanish to native speakers, but also in the teaching of Spanish as a second language to interested people of different nationalities from all around the world.

My teaching experience is not limited to a classroom environment. Since 1997 I have been incorporating into my teaching style all the advantages of technology, especially online features that are great tools in language teaching.

I am also certified teacher. I hold a Florida Teacher Certificate issued by the State of Florida Department of Education: Foreign Language - Spanish / Grades K-12).

Since 2007 I have been working for Florida Virtual School as a Spanish Instructor.

- I was approved as a Course Provider by Ontario College of Teachers in Canada, and designed and taught 13 courses for the professional learning program for non native teachers of Spanish.

My teaching approach of Spanish is based on the acquisition of language skills. My goal is to teach students how to get the language by themselves, and make them feel completely confident while applying learning structures to every-day-situations.

In my teaching style and philosophy I follow the same concept to how people learn their own language. It means, that I look for the same natural way, in which people learned their mother tongue, addding to that the necessary vocabulary and learning structures.

I have also created a variety of oral and writing exercises and quizzes that can be found online in order to keep my students actively practicing and applying what they have learned.

Soy graduado de la Universidad de La Habana, Cuba, en la especialidad de español. Tengo una extensa experiencia en la enseñanza de mi lengua materna no sólo a nativos de la lengua, sino también personas de diferentes nacionalidades, cuyo interés es aprender el español como segunda lengua. Tanto en mi país de origen, como en Canadá y Estados Unidos he enseñado mi lengua materna no sólo en grupo de estudiantes, clases privadas, sino también a través de Internet. Actualmente trabajo para Florida Virtual School como instructor de español.

Mi enfoque en la enseñanza del español se basa en formar en mis estudiantes las habilidades y destrezas para la adquisición de la lengua. Este enfoque se fundamenta en la forma en que los seres humanos adquieren su propia lengua materna, es decir, basado en estructuras, que se complementan con el vocabulario de mayor frecuencia. Los conceptos gramaticales en mi enfoque se ofrecen de acuerdo con las estructuras que enseño. Adicionalmente cuento con una variada disposición de ejercicios orales y escritos en línea, que pongo en función de mis estudiantes para mantener la practica activa de las estructuras aprendidas.
