I was born and raised in Beijing China and received my degree in Education in New Zealand. Mandarin is my first language. I also speak English and some Japanese.
In my spare time, I like doing crafty stuff. I'm currently trying to learn how to sew, but it's not going very well. I also like to stay active. I'm learning how to swim freestyle, but it's also going very slowly. So to sum it up, I understand the struggle of learning something new and that's why I'm always trying to find better ways to learn and I'm very encouraging to my students and people around me.
I have been tutoring Chinese both in person and online for 6 years. My students are come from all backgrounds and with different levels of Chinese. I especially enjoy teaching total beginners. It's a great feeling seeing my students progress and gaining confidence.
I believe learning language is all about being able to use it to communicate. I teach what is actually being spoken in daily life. So you will speak in a natural way. I tailor my lessons to suit your needs. I have my own Powerpoint resources that I normally use; We can also talk about any topic of your choice; I can also teach from any textbook that you prefer. Basically I want to make sure your learning needs are met. My lessons are relaxed, but also organised and systematic. I want to make sure you will enjoy the process of acquiring Chinese as a new language.
Looking forward to hearing from you. :)
