My name is Edelma, and I am a native Spanish speaker from Antigua, Guatemala. I come from a big family and have been a Spanish language teacher for fourteen years with students from all over the world, which I love, as I love the cultural exchange that takes place when a student and teacher come from different places and get to know each other.
My students describe me as upbeat, dynamic and patient. My hobbies are dancing, cooking and spending time with friends, who I am lucky enough to have in many different parts of the world.
I have worked as a private Spanish tutor in a large international language school in Antigua, Guatemala for fourteen years.
I have extensive experience with students from many different countries, from complete beginners to the most advanced learners. I have also worked online for the last six years.
I have a baccalaureate certificate in teaching.
I have a university accredited diploma in the teaching of Spanish as a second language.
I have an upper intermediate certificate in English from the Modern American English School.
My tried and tested teaching approach is to personalize the course according to the specific learning needs, goals and interests of each individual student.
I encourage immersion as much as you are comfortable with, but am happy to use English to help you along the way. I am friendly and patient, as I have seen over the years that a positive student-teacher relationship is key to fast progress and makes learning more enjoyable!
I use a range of books and exercises as the basis for your grammar learning, and have many resources which I share with my students via email. This combined with conversation and discussion will help you develop your confidence, communication skills and your precision when using Spanish.
Edelma me está desafiando todo el tiempo.
Edelma fue muy paciente conmigo! Estoy deseando que llegue mi próxima lección.
