My name is Drew Smibert. I am a 35 year old Canadian male. I grew up in Kelowna, which is a small city about 4 hours outside of Vancouver. I grew up playing hockey and lacrosse. Once, my house was so close to the forest that I could see bears, deer, mountain lions and coyotes within walking distance.
I love making new friends and listening to people tell me about themselves and their countries. I am married and I spend a lot of time with my two little girls aged 2 and 3 years old. I like to paint using a gift that God gave me. He lets me see his face (eyes, nose, mouth and beard) in every visible thing. I paint what I see on my shirts and I have a video blog about this special gift on youtube. Search my name "Drew Smibert" on youtube and you will see my channel.
I attended a prestigious private institute where I graduated from an exclusive 3 year teacher training course. I became certified as an ESL teacher with a specialization in TOEFL preparation in 2002 and I have been teaching English ever since.
Over the past 11 years I have taught English in universities, high schools, elementary schools and private schools. I have been teaching English one one one online to Koreans, Chinese, Brazilians, Indians, Mexicans, Sri Lankans, Lebanese and other nationalities for the past 5 years.
I am also a second language student. I have been studying Spanish for the past 11 years. So, I use the "golden rule" with my students while teaching them English. I treat second language students as I would like to be treated as a second language student. I work hard to give them a trustworthy, patient and warm service.
Diagnose and correct method.
I use structured conversations to get the students to speak as much as possible while I correct them and give them native speaker expressions by typing them into the text box.
At the end of each lesson the students recieve a personalized study guide of the things that they need to study.
