About me - English
I am a native speaker of British English. I am 49 years old and female.
I have been an EFL teacher since 1997 when I got my first job in Greece where I stayed for over 7 years. In addition to teaching, I worked as an editor and writer of EFL materials for a well-known EFL Publishing house.
I returned to the UK to complete an MA TESOL then went to work in the Middle East for 8 years teaching Arabic speaking students.
I have recently returned to the UK and hope to continue my career in online teaching and freelance writing and editing.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a highly qualified EFL teacher of Adults with 16 years experience.
I have taught all levels of General English from Pre-Elementary to Advanced. I have also taught Cambridge exam preparation including FCE, Proficiency, Advanced and IELTS. I am also an active IELTS examiner. I have also taught BULATS and Michigan.
I am also well-experienced in teaching Business English and delivering Professional and Academic Skills to corporate students, to public students in Private Language Institutions and teaching Academic Skills in Technical Colleges and Universities in Europe and the Middle East.
Teaching Approach
My preferred approach is The Discovery Method which allows students to identify patterns in language following my facilitation i.e. through elicitation and genre analysis or concordance.
It has been proven that learners acquire languages much quicker if they are able to discover 'the answers' for themselves rather than by learning by rote or being spoon fed by teachers.
