I am a 52 year old English woman with 25 years’ experience of teaching English to all ages and levels, including 12 years in Brazil (with Cultura Inglesa) , and 8 years running small to very large summer schools in the UK – at various locations from Edinburgh to Reading to Totnes. I have taught at various types of site from boarding schools to university campuses, as well as having run my own total immersion (in English) courses for older adolescents in Brazil.

I have taught many nationalities; South American, European and Asian, and have a lot of experience in preparing students for IELTS, TOEFL and the full Cambridge exam suite (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE)

I have been involved in all aspects of education from teaching, training, examining, organization and finance, recruitment, management, course and material design, to planning at all levels.

I offer fluent Portuguese, a patient and people centred approach to my work, and creativity and enthusiasm to everything I do. I am passionate at forging links and spreading awareness of education for the whole person. I believe in guiding by example, and the ongoing learning we all receive from one another.

More recently my teaching has extended into Yoga, workshops on community building, and personal development, interactive storytelling, and through my writing. My first book, a collection of modern day folk tales, was published in 2013, soon followed by an anthology of poetry in early 2014. I am currently working on my next book; a semi auto-biographical folk tale which weaves current time events into a 2050 setting.

At the moment I am teaching English online to Brazilian and Columbian business people and have been to Vietnam, France and Slovenia teaching university lecturers in. I now have some availability to take on a few new students.

I live in a cosy cottage in a small village with my 3 cats and I love meeting people on social media.

My teaching style is relaxed and learner centred. I believe in the teacher-student relationship being as natural as possible and a lot of fun.

I use the communicative approach and am keen to encourage confidence in speaking and fluency, although I am also experienced in teaching the process of writing and exam preparation.
