I'm Gabi, I am 26 years old and I'm from Serbia.
Aside from teaching, my absolute passion is travelling. I have been to many places, and in the future I am hoping to explore many more. I love making new friendships and sharing stories with people. For a short while, I lived in the US and Australia, but I've also traveled to about 15 other countries, so far :) I believe that my experiences give me a different perspective and a much more interesting teaching approach.
When it comes to hobbies, if I'm at home, or on the road, I always have a good book with me. I love reading short stories, Julian Barnes in particular. I love riding my bike, being outdoors and spending time with my friends whenever I can.
I have 2 years of ESL (English as a second language) teaching experience in a Japanese online English school. In my 2 year experience, I have not had one complaint, or bad review. I taught ages 3 - 85, so I am fully skilled in teaching any age group of any proficiency level.
I was a member of the Regional talent committee of Serbia for English language over the course of 4 years. I got the chance to perfect my English skills alongside many other excellent teachers. I finished 4 years of classical high school education with an accent on languages, in the oldest Serbian high school. I studied Ancient Greek, Latin, English and Serbian for 4 years.
I studied at the University of Novi Sad, holding a degree in Comparative literature but in addition to the classes I was taking, I learned English and French for 4 years.
In my experience so far, I have come to the conclusion that it is best to tailor the classes to what each individual student likes.
I try to make my classes as dynamic as possible. Combining 4 key elements to any language: speaking, reading, writing and listening, my students and I use interactive techniques to overcome the hardest obstacles.
So far, I have had tremendous success in employing the "free conversation" method where the student and I talk on various topics, while practicing "real time" conversation skills. The students are led to make their own conclusions and express their opinions thus making the class very interesting. I have also found that reading articles, and discussing them is very good for developing the student's reading and comprehension skills, hence I employ this method often.
I am a strong believer that teaching, and learning should be fun and relaxed, so I try to prepare for each class according to the students preferences.
Book my class, and let's learn some English together! :)
Excellent lesson by all means. Gabi was friendly, patient and professional. She was helpful with all my questions and concerns, paying a very good attention to my development, able to provide valuable recommendations and answers throughout the call.
