I am a native English speaker with 3 years' experience teaching English. I have taught in Russia, Italy and the United Kingdom. I find teaching incredibly rewarding and I aim to get results fast! I try to create an informal atmosphere so that you can feel relaxed and unafraid of making mistakes. My objective is to get you talking! I offer Skype lessons that can fit around your commitments. I can set homework or not, depending on your wishes. These classes are extremely flexible and I aim to adapt each lesson to suit YOU.
In addition to teaching, I am a qualified translator and interpreter working from both French and Russian into English. I absolutely love learning about new cultures and I love learning new languages. I can speak English, French and Russian, and I am currently learning Portuguese and German as well! Through my own language learning experiences I believe I have a sound knowledge of what language learners really need and I make sure to incorporate this into my own classes.
I have been teaching English for 3 years now. I taught English speaking classes and English phonetics classes at Tomsk State University, Russia. I have also taught in Moscow where I worked at a boarding school and a prestigious English language school, as well as privately. I am currently also working as a live-in English tutor during the holiday periods. I have been offering Skype lessons since April 2015 and my students range from 8 to 50 years old.
I have helped students prepare for various exams such as EILTS, Cambridge Young Learners, 11+ (entrance exam for British boarding schools), 13+ (entrance exam for British boarding schools). Several of my students have been accepted into elite British boarding schools and universities after passing their entrance exams.
I try very hard to get to know each of my students. It's very important to understand their likes and dislikes, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their language needs. Each lesson focuses on:
1) Grammar - not the most interesting of things but 100% necessary to help you succeed!
2) Vocabulary - you'll learn words that are relevant to YOU and we'll practise activating them through playing games and having conversations.
3) Comprehension - I strive to make this as interesting as possible for you, this is why I like to know what each student is interested in. I choose relevant topics and use material such as news articles, short video clips, songs and excerpts from books
4) Having fun! - I want you to make progress and most of all I want you to enjoy learning English!
My lessons are extremely flexible so feel free to tell me exactly what you would like to learn and your objectives. Remember: I tailor each lesson to suit YOUR needs.
First great lesson with Mrs Bell, highly recommended!
