About me - English
Hello! My name is Michael. I'm 34 years old from Montreal, Canada. I'm a native English speaker and have a great amount of experience with helping ESL students with their communication from many countries around the world! I've taught here in Montreal, as well as extensively online. I am a kind and patient person so if you're a beginner then I hope to provide a comfortable place to learn. For advanced students, I'm an avid reader and am knowledgeable about a variety of subjects. We can discuss business, or any subject you desire. I look forward to showing you the beauty of the English language and culture!
In my free time I enjoy watching great movies, playing video games, meeting new people, cycling, or just spending time outdoors in beautiful Montreal.

-Native English speaker with an 'American' accent, which is very clear and easy to understand. Superb knowledge of the language
-Over 300 hours of online teaching experience
-Possess online ratings of 4.9/5.0 and 5.0/5.0 overall in my online teaching experiences
-Have taught English 1-on-1 in-person with students from around the world (China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, Turkey, etc)
-Completed university-level courses in English
-Possess excellent communication and listening skills demonstrated in my professional experiences
Teaching Approach
I use an adaptive approach whereby I assess a student's goals and difficulties then tailor the class to suit them. I'm a friendly but professional teacher, and I ensure that the class is enjoyable... as what's the point in learning if you don't enjoy it. We can discuss a variety of topics of interest to you, and can practice English for your career, university, travel, for life, or test preparation.
For example to practice speaking we could:
1) Reading: Do reading aloud about interesting subjects you like, then have a discussion to help teach you the ability the explain what you read and give your thoughts in deep discussion.
2) Accent Reduction: Reduce your accent by practicing copying my 'American' accent, as well as practicing proper lip/tongue positioning. Fun activities like Tongue Twisters can also be used.
3) Acting/Roleplaying: This is where it gets really interesting. I'll show you my acting skills as we put ourselves in a variety of situations to improve speaking and confidence. For example: restaurants, airport, hotel, work, university, hospitals, job interviews, or any situation in which you want to speak English better.
