About me - English
My name is Sofia Weadley, and I am currently living in Reykjavík, Iceland. I am originally from Colorado, but I am living in Iceland for my graduate studies. I can speak English, Russian, a little bit of Spanish, and I am currently learning Icelandic. I love reading books, watching movies, traveling, and cooking. As someone who enjoys learning other languages, I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language. I am looking forward to doing lessons with you!
Qualifications & Experience
I have a BA in Russian Studies and a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) from the University of Colorado-Boulder. I have volunteered for organizations like Intercambio, which teaches local immigrants English in Colorado. I have also helped with language events at the Longmont and Nederland Public Libraries as a temporary library technician.
Teaching Approach
I use both in-person and online learning using textbooks. I provide them, so the student does not have to worry about getting their own copy. Together, we review pronunciation, grammar, and do exercises together. I also tailor my lessons based on the needs of the student. I assign my students homework, which consists of textual exercises from the textbook as well as opportunities to watch and read media in their target language.
