Hi, I am Asako. I am a native Japanese speaker fluent in English and Italian. So, I can teach Japanese not only through simple Japanese but also in English or in Italian 😊

My experience of living, studying, and working abroad is extensive and ongoing. During high school, I went to the USA as an exchange student (a 10-month homestay). Later, as a Ph.D. student in the field of Chemistry, I studied in Germany, where my research has been conducted mainly in English. After finishing my Ph.D. studies, I went back to live in the USA for about 3 years and a half. I have been living in Italy since 2013.

Thinking back, I believe the 10-month homestay mentioned above could have been not only more fruitful but also more fun, if I had had private lessons with a native speaker to prepare myself prior to my departure. Unfortunately, near my home in Japan, I could not find any native English speaker and, in my time, online private lessons were not possible – most of the people didn't have internet connection at home. So, I think it is absolutely fantastic that, over the years, online lessons have become a popular way to learn a foreign language. This enables amazing opportunities.

In my experience, each learner has different motivations, goals and learning style. There are people who tend to learn better through lots of examples and repeating them – a bit like how we learned our native language in childhood. There are other people who prefer to understand the grammatical aspects of the language well to make progress. A mix of the two ways is the common approach. I will be happy to tailor the lessons to suit the student’s needs and learning style.

After each lesson, I will give you a little bit of homework together with the vocabulary notes to help you consolidate what you are learning.

Ciao, mi chiamo Asako. Sono di madrelingua giapponese e posso insegnarla fluentemente anche in inglese e in Italiano 😊

Ho un’esperienza di vita, di studi e lavoro all’estero importante che è tuttora in corso. Durante il liceo, sono andata a vivere negli USA tramite un programma di scambio di studi facendo un “homestay” di 10 mesi. Più avanti per gli studi di dottorato di ricerca in chimica, sono andata a vivere in Germania. Ho concluso il dottorato con successo, usando prevalentemente l’inglese per svolgere sia i miei studi che le attività di ricerca. Dopo di che sono tornata a vivere negli USA per circa 3 anni e mezzo. Vivo in Italia da 2013.

Credo che l’ “homestay” di 10 mesi negli USA menzionato sopra, sarebbe stato non solo più fruttuoso ma anche più divertente se avessi avuto al possibilità di prepararmi prendendo delle lezioni private con un insegnante madrelingua in inglese. A quei tempi, sfortunatamente, non sono riuscita a trovare neanche una madrelingua inglese vicino a casa mia in Giappone, e le lezioni online non erano possibili: era il periodo in cui la maggior parte delle persone non aveva ancora la connessione internet a casa. Ora, la situazione è totalmente cambiata: le lezioni online sono diventate uno dei modi più comuni per imparare una lingua straniera. Penso che questa modalità possa offrire delle opportunità eccezionali.

Ho una vera passione per l’insegnamento e mi piacerebbe aiutarti ad imparare la mia lingua madre: il giapponese!

Per esperienza so che ogni studente ha motivazioni e obiettivi diversi. Ci sono persone a cui piace imparare tramite esempi, ripetendoli tante volte, come facciamo da bambini quando impariamo la lingua madre. Per altre, la grammatica è indispensabile a capire il funzionato della lingua. Di solito, la preferenza cade su un mix delle due modalità. Qualsiasi sia la tua preferenza, sarò lieta di personalizzare le lezioni in base alle tue esigenze e modalità apprendimento preferito.

Dopo ogni lezione, ti assegnerò degli esercizi (insieme alla lista di vacabili necessari) per aiutarti a consolidare ciò che stai imparando.
