I am a CPA in the District of Columbia. Born and raised in Segovia, Spain, but I have lived in US for the last 30 years.

I have 10 years of experience teaching Spanish as a Foreign language and 2 years' experience as an accountant in the US. I have higher accounting education in Spain and in the US business and accounting and I am a professional tax preparer. My lessons are best suited for someone looking to learn Spanish for business.

My lessons are designed to be fun and effective. Students quickly acquire the confidence to use the new language and are encouraged to want to learn more. I use Spanish almost exclusively even with beginners and they are surprised how much they can speak from the first day.

Because the needs, preference and motivations of the students are very varied, the lessons are completely customized. The student gives me their objectives and whether they like grammar exercises, practice conversation, guided speaking tasks, etc. Then I create lesson plans, offer study guides and homework activities for reinforcement.

I suggest that beginning students follow the classic curriculum for foreign language learning to build the groundwork for their studies. The objective is to cover the basic grammar with much repetition in useful situations. As students' progress they are ready for increasingly complex grammar.

Many advanced students greatly benefit from dialogues based on articles, books and other media in order to learn and retain new vocabulary that is meaningful to them. Besides improving their speaking skills some advanced students have benefited from help with written tasks, couching for interviews, preparing for DELE, GCSE and other exams and reading Spanish literature. All learners progress faster when they use the Spanish language daily in an enjoyable way.
