Hello, my name is Carmen. I was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. After finishing my university studies, I decided to travel around a bit to open my mind to other cultures and customs. I came to Ireland a few years ago to improve my English and here I met my husband. Dublin became my home away from home.
I love reading, classic movies, art, long walks and good conversations.
I began giving private Spanish tuition while reading Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. At the same time I studied English, Italian and German.
When I moved to Ireland I completed a two-year diploma in History of European painting and a high diploma in Library and Information Studies at University College Dublin. Both diplomas aided me in developing an awareness of the way English speaking people study and learn.
In Ireland I have taught Spanish privately to many students of all ages with needs varying from exam preparation to casual conversation.
I believe in learning languages through talking and communicating. Casual conversation helps you to learn grammar gradually and naturally. It also helps to build up vocabulary with less effort.
I use texts from many different sources with subjects such as current affairs or Spain and its culture, to put the language in context.
As my student your needs and goals are always first and foremost so lessons are tailored to your individual requirements.
