About me - English
Hello,
I'm Ahmed. I'm from Egypt. I'm a professional Arabic teacher.
I enjoy meeting new people and exchange cultures as well as travelling, but I've been only to the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and United States.
I love languages in general and I found that teaching is the most interesting job for me. I've been teaching Arabic for almost 4 years. I've been teaching English for a year and a half so far.
Qualifications & Experience
I took the path of teaching Arabic since the end of 2009 and I am experienced in both individual and group instruction.
I worked for a year with Al Azhar university graduates on the Arabic curriculum they teach. I started teaching university students at the American University in Cairo in person at that time where I worked on the University curriculum for non-Arabic speakers. I have taught Egyptian Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
I worked along the way in developing myself as a teacher of Arabic as a second language and have taught online. I have worked with almost all ages and with many nationalities including university students in the United States during my stay there. I have taught people from South Asia, Europe and North America and also two students from Brazil and Argentina.
I'm fluent in English and I hold a TOEFL certificate in it. I've been teaching English since 2012. Mostly my students love classes with me because we focus on using English at a conversational level. We work on phonetics and pronunciation. I help non-Arabic speakers with that because I know what they need exactly to do the shift between the two languages in terms of producing the sounds and sounding like a native speaker.
I've studied Qur'an from a young age. I have taught recitation to new-converted Muslims since 2009 so if you are learning for religious purposes, I can help you with that.
Teaching Approach
I have a wide range of learning materials and experience with people who have different purposes for learning Arabic.
For beginners I start with a reading course, then I adapt classes after that to their needs. For intermediates and advanced students there is a written placement test they take then half of our first session would be an oral test.
I adapt the lessons to your purposes whatever they are: religious, travelling, professional studies or just personal interest. I have materials for all of that.
I use visual aids like videos online and I record lessons myself for the students so they can repeat and understand and never miss a lesson. I also ask students to make records regularly and I review them to be able to determine what exactly they need to develop.
There are other courses available in writing, conducing general travel conversations and grammar.
