The lessons are well structured and adequate to my English level. Michele is attentive and as native speaker, her advices are really helpful.
I'm a native English speaker (although I moved to Spain in 2020) and don't have a strong accent. I was born in Nottinghamshire, in England, where I also went to school, then I completed my university degree in Birmingham and stayed there for 16 years. After that, I lived in a smaller city called Worcester, and then I moved again to the North East of England before moving again to the Valencia region in Spain. My interests include fashion designing, painting, making jewellery, DIY, and travel. Of course, I also enjoy learning and teaching languages and I speak good Spanish and a little French. I love cats, I have two of my own and also help care for the many feral cats that live in my neighbourhood.
As well as teaching, I have also spent 18 years working in public relations for a marketing agency.
Qualifications & Experience
BA Honours Degree in Communication Studies – University of Central England – 1990
CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Adults) – Clarendon College, Nottingham – 1994
I started teaching English in 1994. I teach British English (with a neutral accent) and have taught overseas as well as here in the UK. My students have ranged from 6-60 years old, from absolute beginner to advanced levels, and I have also taught Business English. I have taught one-to-one and group lessons and have worked in both classroom and online environments. I use dedicated online teaching software, which enables me to incorporate multimedia activities such as videos, listening exercises and interactive games, as well as Skype.
I can help you to improve your English skills whether you use English for social or business reasons and can also offer exam preparation including IELTS.
I have been teaching online English lessons since January 2012.
If you work in the legal profession or are training to become a lawyer, I have a short course on legal English including lessons on defamation, branches of law, law of agency, the British Constitution, legal idioms and more.
Teaching Approach
Primarily, learning a language must be fun and relevant. My lessons are adapted to the individual needs, interests and learning style, of each individual student so that you are learning what YOU need to learn and you can apply what you have learnt in real life situations.
My aim is always to provide interesting lessons in a relaxed environment, to encourage you to use your language skills confidently and helping you develop your vocabulary, and pronunciation as well as to improve grammar where necessary. I use a variety of methods to help you build on the four areas of language – listening, speaking, reading and writing – depending on your needs. If you would like to focus on your conversation skills, we can do that. If you would like to improve your grammar, or pronunciation, we can do that, too.
It is my job to help you to achieve your language goals, but YOU are in charge.
