I have been taking Tamil lessons with Arasi for several months and have learned a lot! She tailors the lessons to my level and pace so I get the most out of our calls, and is very patient and supportive when I am practicing.

Mukilarasi is very encouraging and always answers my questions thoroughly. She clearly has a lot of experience teaching, and I feel that I have already learned so much after only two lessons.

Liked the way how she patiently explained each words to my daughter. My daughter was also very comfortable with her. Looking forward to future classes.

Very good teaching. For me the "pick a topic" doesn't work so appreciate the flexibility. A natural conversation approach together with picking out different sentence structures and carefully correcting my mistakes like you already do is best for me.
About me - English
I am a University student and love teaching and tutoring part time. I am a passionate Tamilian who is also fluent in English, and hence I will be able to explain the concepts well to those who can understand basic English. I have worked as a Tamil teacher for the Victorian School of Languages based in Melbourne for two years (2014 - 2015). Now that I am in Darwin, I wish to continue to teach Tamil to those who are interested.
I am good with being able to cater lessons to the student's individual needs and like to keep lessons engaging. I try to keep lessons two way to encourage communication which is one of the best ways to improve in a language.
Qualifications & Experience
Current: BSc Psychology (Honours) - Charles Darwin University
Current: English literacy and numeracy tuition teacher (Master Tuition)
2014 to 2015: Tamil teacher - Victorian School of Languages
2012 to 2015: BSc (Psychology) - The University of Melbourne
Teaching Approach
Step by step approach:
1. Diagnostic - find out the student's current proficiency and fluency, ask the student where he/she would like to focus and improve (writing/reading/speaking etc)
2. Introduction - starting off with the basics such as getting to know the alphabet, basic words
3. Reiteration - various activities that include word puzzles that reinforce learned words
The lessons will follow the above-mentioned basic structure. The structure serves as a guide, as the content will be varied according to the student's current and achieved levels at the time of the lessons. For example, complete beginners will start off with getting to know the letters and complete tasks that reinforce letter recognition, while those who are familiar with the letters will go on to words, and then phrases etc.
