Hola, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
My name is Patricia. I was born in Mexico in a multicultural borderline city with the United States. My native language is Spanish; I also speak English fluently and I am currently studying French. I studied and lived in the United States, Mexico and China. I thought for many years in both languages to children from ages two (in China) to adults (in Playa del Carmen, Mexico), as well as my own children (home-schooled). I am also a certified yoga instructor. I love teaching and I hope to share my passion of languages, traveling, people and cultures with you.
I am certified as a bilingual/ESL teacher from the University of Texas at El Paso. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master in Education 'With Emphasis in Math and Science'. I took the Spanish Proficiency Interview in Texas with a score of 'level of 3 or above', the highest score. I have taught pre-kinder, first, second and fourth grade in Spanish as well as English in the United States. I also worked as a home-bound teacher for at-risk high school students, in the language of their preference. I taught English as a second language to adults (reading, writing, listening and speaking) in a community college. I worked in a university in China teaching English conversation to engineering students and also private and online Spanish and English classes in Mexico.
My approach is individualized according to each student's needs. I believe that everyone can learn! I provide a safe environment where students can feel comfortable in experiencing the learning of a new language. I listen carefully, making a teacher-student connection, making the most of every minute and making the class interesting and fun.
