As a highly motivated secondary school and English language teacher, who graduated from one of the leading UK teaching universities; I have a passion for both teaching and learning.
In terms of my own learning, I love spending time with new people, speaking about their lives and interest. I am a keen explorer and spend much of my time learning about new cultures through travelling and reading. I am self-motivated and dedicated to personal development shown by my many hobbies including the art of Capoeira, Cyr Wheel, yoga and surfing.
Over the last two years, I have dedicated myself to both the learning of the Turkish Language and also of English teaching. Being a language student as well has allowed me to really emphasise with students and develop a deeper understanding of how different languages work and the best techniques to teach a foreign language.
Having worked with a large range of students from younger learners to special educational needs students, exam groups, adult learners as well as online learners, I have the skills and qualities needed for an effective classroom which leads a successful learning experience.

Teaching and assessing students from a wide variety of countries and professional backgrounds. Adult classes were made up of mixed nationalities, with up to 17 adults in each class. Teaching a range of classes including General English (A2-B1), Special Interest classes of ‘reading and writing’ as well as ‘speaking and listening’, IELTs preparation classes, junior classes (ages 10-15 years old) and a lecture for 120 students upon an interest of my choice for 90 minutes.
I completed weekly level testing, predominantly assessing oral proficiency through the Common European National Framework. Throughout the time in this school, my lessons used many mediums including, iPad and iLab lessons, media lesson and course book based lessons. I always aim to incorporate my own material to supplement the learners and their needs.
Beykent University: Istanbul Turkey
Contracted through British Side language school to work at Beykent University’s prep-school programme, in which students are required to pass with an upper intermediate level before entering their own departments. Class sizes range from 5-25 students and modules are 8 weeks long including a testing and marking week; I have taught at all levels including Elementary, Pre-intermediate, intermediate and currently at upper-intermediate. Alongside using our core textbooks, I plan engaging and personalised lessons for all my classes as well as giving written and verbal feedback on essay writing, marking of the end of module exams and running reading lessons for all students.
Freelance Teacher: Istanbul Turkey
Working with a number of private students to develop and improve their English. I worked work with students to plan accordingly for their individual needs; mainly improving their business English, presentation skills and workplace vocabulary. Many of my students worked in the digital advertising industry, in roles of both design and development.
International House: Istanbul Turkey
A large and successful language school based in Istanbul, teaching predominantly ‘in-company’ to groups and individuals consisting of professional adults and university students. Teaching to a range of levels including complete beginner, elementary and intermediate groups as well as one-to-one classes at elementary and upper intermediate level. Alongside teaching, I also had responsibilities for testing, marking, and levelling of students. The curriculum follows a range of textbooks as well as the writing of resources to enable personalised and dynamic lessons to my students. Simultaneously I worked with a remote team and manager, teaching online to students who lived all over the country and could not attend an in-person class. This involved often working with an online platform, often dealing with technological issues and developing and managing relationships through email, Skype, and the school’s online system.
Angmering School: Sussex UK
A large state secondary school with approximately 1500 students aged 11-18. 50% teaching timetable Geography including one exam group (GCSE). 50% teaching including vocational development, Religious Education and careers advice. Other responsibilities included the development of the 2014/15 English National Curriculum, exam marking and preparation classes, pastoral roles as a year group tutor as well as attending CPD training on a regular basis to develop myself as a teacher.
