About me - English
Hello! My name is Jarred Harkness. I have been teaching English both online and in person for almost two years. Currently I live in Bogota Colombia where I specialize in teaching business english classes to adults. I also work with university students who want to study abroad prepare to take the IELTS exam.
Qualifications & Experience
I have a bachelors degree in History as well as an Masters of Business Administration. I have also my TEFL Certification for teaching English to foreign learners. I have been teaching both online and in person for almost two years and have helped many students meet and exceed their language goals.
Teaching Approach
As a language learner myself, I believe that speaking the language is the key to learning and mastering a new language. Vocabulary list and verb charts are great for beginners but they quickly become more useless than useful. I encourage my students to do the majority of the speaking during the class and I will correct them when needed. At the end of every class I send a follow up message to my students with an overview of what we worked on, as well as some additional resources and activities they can look at between classes.
