About me - English

Hello!

My name is Milica, and I am a writer and translator. Languages, words, and sentences have been very important in my life, and I enjoy teaching what I love. I have worked as a middle school teacher in Oslo for several years. I taught Norwegian as a mother tongue, English as a second language, and social sciences. I also worked at two different language schools in Oslo, where I taught Norwegian as a foreign language. Currently I work as a translator for Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Swedish and Danish), since I have studied both Swedish and Norwegian for many years. I speak Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Norwegian, Swedish, English, some German, a little Spanish, a little French, and a little Russian. I am passionate about languages, literature, history and culture.

Please note that my lessons last 30 minutes - the last 10 minutes are dedicated to your homework and self-study.

Teaching Approach

My university and personal studies in languages, literature, history, and pedagogy gave me the theoretical background to understand how languages work. The 14-year-experience gave me practical knowledge and awareness of how people learn and begin to use a second language. Moreover, I have studied several languages, and I know how challenging and rewarding learning a new language can be.

My teaching approach is supportive, motivating, and positive. I have high ambitions for my students. I want them to explore the language they are learning by using it often, actively, and willingly. Everyone learns differently and for different reasons, and I always accommodate the way students want to learn. I give all the materials to my students (books, vocabulary, articles). I share a google document with my students following the lesson, where they can have an overview of the grammar, vocabulary, and phrases we covered in the class. Additionally, this document might include homework.
