Hey! I'm an Australian girl living in southern Russia and teaching English! I love languages and am myself learning Russian and German. I am preparing to pass the C1 level exam for both these languages this year.
I also adore travelling, cooking, films, music, fitness and many other things so we'll always have something to talk about! I enjoy my job because I understand the challenges, struggles and passion that comes with learning a language, and strive to help my students overcome their barriers and achieve their goals!
I started teaching English five years ago in Australia and have worked in both public schools and private colleges. I have worked with large groups (up to twenty people from different linguistic backgrounds) and individual students, with beginners and advanced students. At the moment I am currently working primarily with individuals via Skype, and with small groups face to face.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (German and Linguistics) obtained through the University of Queensland (2011) and a Master of Applied Linguistics (TESOL) obtained through the University of New England (2015).
My teaching approach depends entirely upon my students' needs but in general I prefer a student-centered approach.
We can practise grammar, vocabulary or speaking, but the focus will always be on the student producing the language effectively. I use textbooks such as Cutting Edge, English File, Speak Out for General English, Market Leader, Business One:One and Intelligent Business for Business English, the Murphy Series for supplementary grammar and vocabulary exercises and a whole range of natural language resources such as podcasts, radio broadcasts, Tedtalks, youtube videos and mini-series for students at more advanced levels.
I strive to be patient, articulate and always with a good sense of humour!
