About me - English
Hello, I am Rose. Thank you for visiting my profile.
I am a native English speaker and a qualified teacher of English. I'm friendly, encouraging and very well spoken.
I grew up as the daughter of an author, and so gained a very strong sense of grammar and a love of languages. I attended university in York studying the Arts which required a high level of written English.
I have a wide range of interests including art, writing, film, reading, music, basketball, travelling, learning other languages and learning about other cultures.
I have travelled a lot and have studied various languages, so I understand the ins and outs of learning. I love teaching English and have a lot of fun helping people progress beyond what they think they are capable of.
Qualifications & Experience
I am educated to BA degree level and during university, I gained my TEFL qualification in teaching English as a foreign language.
I also possess a qualification in British Sign Language.
Experience:
- One to one tutoring of foreign exchange students, correcting grammar and pronunciation, and teaching vocabulary.
- Assisting in written grammar corrections for university students.
- English language assistance for people from various countries, studying many different subjects.
- I have held informal group conversation classes with multiple nationalities.
Teaching Approach
I adjust my teaching approach based on students' needs and goals.

If you would like to practice conversation, I will make a plan based on your desired topic. For attending a university we can work on your pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. If you would like to improve your reading & writing skills I would be happy to work from literature or news articles appropriate to your learning level.
I have a good grasp of formal English and can assist you in clear, professional communication for business needs.
