About me - English
Hi! My name is Sean, I'm 26 years old and I'm from London. I am a native English speaker with 2 years teaching experience across London and Rome. Currently, I work for a private school in Rome teaching English to adults at all levels, one-to-one and in a classroom environment.
I also teach Business English, the type of English used in business contexts, or specifically to help clients prepare for corporate presentations. I also host language workshops.
I have experience helping students to build CV's and to prepare for interviews or exams such as IELTS and Cambridge First.
I offer English lessons either online, face-to-face or in a classroom.
My hobbies include street dancing, drawing, and playing football! (My favourite football team is Chelsea!)
Qualifications & Experience
CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) qualification from Stafford House, London.
I graduated with a first-class honours in BA International Relations and Politics from the University of Leicester in 2013.
I worked for the BBC for 4 years in a variety of different roles including an Operational Coordinator for BBC News and Guest Management.
I have been a private tutor for 2 years, teaching students across London and Rome!
I taught English in a school in Bangkok, Thailand for 6 months through the British Council, to support the promotion of educational standards overseas.
Teaching Approach
I draw from the communicative approach, so I aim to encourage conversation on different topics that require a specific grammar focus, and then I thoroughly correct mistakes. During my lessons I like to integrate one or two of the four main areas, reading, listening, speaking or writing.
My approach is to learn the students needs in the first lesson, and then create a personalised program for each student. Together we will decide how you prefer to learn, whether it be role-play, informal conversation or alternative methods.
I have developed a range of materials and resources to teach English that can be tailored to you. So if you regularly make the same mistake, or want to practice a specific area I can build a lesson around this.
As a native speaker I can assist you with the correct pronunciation. Also I believe teaching is a cultural exchange for both myself and the student so naturally I will teach you true English etiquette, manners and the appropriate language which is especially useful.
