Meet me on
About me - English

I teach Business English at a very high level. I do not teach any other sort of English.

My degree is in Business Studies and my work background is as a qualified accountant. Additionally I have 25 years experience programming computers.

My lessons are bespoke, and are based on what the student requires. In other words I enable you to 'fill in the gaps' in your knowledge. This enables you to get the maximum value for money for the lessons you undertake.

So if you wish to improve your listening, reading, speaking, vocabulary or writing skills please contact me.

I also do role play and report writing skills.

As well as the above I prepare people for job interviews and CV preparation, by going over mock interview questions and refining CVs to give my students the best possible chance of succeeding in this field.

Qualifications & Experience

I have been teaching Business English online and face-to-face for the last 3 years.

My students come from all parts of the world, and I enjoy the variety and flexibility this gives me.

I can teach individuals or groups.

I hold the TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Qualification with a Distinction.

Additionally I hold Advanced Certificates in both Teaching Business English and Teaching English Online.

I hold a Degree in Business Studies and a CIMA Accountancy Qualification (ACMA, GCMA)

What really motivates me is helping people improve their lives and career prospects, and seeing them get better as they progress with my lessons.

Teaching Approach

The student gets a chance to practise exactly what they want.

An article is sent to the student when the lesson is agreed, and the student reads the article, marking any words or phrases they do not understand in red. The student then finds definitions for these words or phrases and puts them in brackets in English (which helps their understanding). Any words or phrases they still do not understand are changed to green and these are discussed in the lesson.

During the lesson itself the article is discussed and the student is asked, and encouraged to ask me, questions.

This ensures that the student increases their vocabulary, have a chance to discuss the article and, should they wish, have reading practice as well.

It is also possible to do this with a video to increase listening and comprehension skills.
