My name is Vesna. I grew up in the USA but currently residing in Belgrade where I work as an Art History professor and a part-time English teacher.
I am really passionate about teaching, arts, and languages in general. I speak good Spanish as well as a little bit of French, Italian and Serbian. Working as a teacher made me realize that this world is full of wonderful people ready to constantly improve themselves which is the best possible trait we can possess.
Moreover, I truly believe that learning a new language can break all the barriers that one has inside and this job has taken me all over the world and allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures and languages.
I also have an artistic background and enjoy different activities such as arts, sports, cooking, reading books, learning new languages, football, video games...
Speak another language so the world can hear you -- this is a personal phrase that I abide by.
I have a degree in Applied Arts and methodology of teaching and a Masters degree in Ceramic design.
I volunteered in Cyprus as a language- cultural mediator and organized workshops for children in Sardinia.
I participated in different multi-cultural activities and events either as an artist or a teacher.
I have been working as an online English teacher for different international companies and with students of different nationalities.
I have a TEFL certificate as well as TOEFL. I have been preparing students for different exams, such as BULATS, TOEIC, TOEFL with great success.
First of all, I strongly believe that all the things that we are trying to learn have to be interesting so with this in my mind I will be open to all ideas and topics that you propose.
You should feel comfortable and free enough to express your opinion. It should your own relaxing bubble of learning.
Lessons will be personalized and based on individual needs and interests, with an emphasis on communication and language skills applied in different situations and experiences. We shall use a variety of materials and exercises.
Speaking is a must.
My aim is to activate the passive knowledge that we all have. What I mean by this is that typically, we are better at understanding what others are saying than we are at expressing ourselves, especially when we are learning a new language, therefore these lessons should help remove that blockage.
I look forward to our future lessons.
