Hi,

My name is Joe Heazle. I am 22 years old and I was born and raised in Waterford, Ireland.

I recently moved to Barcelona, Spain to teach English and see the beautiful Spanish scenery. I enjoy teaching people new things and seeing them improve really motivates me to get better and better as a teacher.

I have just completed the rigorous two week training course with Vaughan Systems English teaching company in Spain and will be starting to teach English as a freelance for them in corporate businesses in Barcelona. I believe this training course is the toughest and most comprehensive of its kind and to pass it shows how determined I am to teach English and provide a quality service for students.

I got a B3 in higher level English in my leaving certificate from secondary school in Ireland, which was St.Declans Community College, Kilmacthomas, Co.Waterford.

I also have completed two years of a Bachelor Degree in Multimedia from Cork Institute of Technology where I passed both years. I have taken a couple years leave from the course so I could travel, broaden my horizons and pursue my love of teaching.

My teaching approach is one of attention to every detail and pronunciation of the English language. My two weeks training with Vaughan has taught me to be firm and repetitive with my corrections but to always praise and congratulate when a student is doing well.

I personally believe repetition and drilling of the basics of the English language gives students a well built foundation of the language and provides them with the knowledge to advance and become as fluent as a native.

Starting with simple objects like a pen, book, phone and so on I begin to get them to say these back to me. This is for if the student is a real beginner. I progress and start to include more and more words to increase their vocabulary and get them responding to very simple sentences.

More advanced students require more detailed conversation and explanations of the verbs and different tenses. I would also get them to give me a mini presentation on different topics just lasting 30 seconds to 2 minutes as a way to improve their general speaking and flow of the language.

Questions are a big part of the English language and I believe they are very important to master, I would get them to answer questions from myself and also to ask me questions so they get used to asking a variety of questions in English.
