Hi, I'm Sarah. I was born in Cambridge in the UK and I grew up in Cambridgeshire. I studied Fine Art at Staffordshire University in the Midlands in the UK and then I moved to London. I've lived here for twelve years and my partner and I have a three year old son. I work part time as a proofreader in a design company where I have worked for twelve years.
My hobby is illustration and I also love visiting museums and art galleries in my spare time. I’ve been learning French for a long time and I understand the difficulties of learning a new language as an adult. I’ve had different French teachers throughout my studies and I’ve met a lot of new people who I’ve exchanged languages with. It was through this that I started to become interested in becoming an English language teacher.
I'm in my final year of a languages degree with the Open University specialising in English and French and I have recently completed my teacher training. I have a Cambridge certificate (CELTA) in teaching English as a foreign language from Stafford House, London.
I love helping people learn a new language and I am a kind and patient teacher.
I believe the great benefit of having a private tutor is to help you improve your oral fluency and increase your confidence in communicating in English, so I like to concentrate on conversation practice first. In your lesson you will be guided through any problem areas you have. We can discuss grammar points and I will help you practise them in a variety of contexts. We can also focus on pronunciation, which will increase your confidence in both speaking and listening comprehension. I would like to get to know you and find out what your interests are and I will adapt our lessons to your interests, needs and ability. I believe it's important for you to have a fun and relaxed lesson so you can get the most out of your learning with me.
