About me - English
I was born and grew up in the Northwest of English however I have lived away from the Northwest for many years so don't have a strong Northern accent. My accent is fairly neutral with an occasional Northern lilt. At the moment I live in the Southwest of England in Bristol.
My teaching experience extends to teaching French at an after school club for children and teaching two business men English in Cologne, Germany whilst doing my languages degree in French and German. I love to learn languages myself and am currently improving my Spanish and Portuguese.
In addition I passed a TEFL course to CELTA standard in February 2019 at Bath City College. The course consisted of six months of learning to teach English as a second language and teaching young adults on a weekly basis.
I like to build a good rapport with my students to learn of their interests and motivation to learn English, that way I can make the lessons more interesting for them and hopefully enable them learn quicker and more easily.
Qualifications & Experience
I gained significant experience of learning languages through doing a degree in French and German and continue to learn Spanish and Portuguese.
I have completed and passed a TEFL course at Bath City College, Bath, England (Feb 2019).
I have experience of teaching children through fun and social learning and of teaching general and business English to business people and young adults.
Teaching Approach
I think it is important to gain a good rapport with students to understand how they like to learn and study, what their goals and motivations are for learning English and to know of any key areas or topics they would like to cover to help them to learn with greater interest.
Once a rapport has been established then I will aim to tailor lessons to suit my students where possible so learning can be enjoyable and memorable. I like to encourage and support students whilst ensuring their vocabulary and grammar are accurate. I will structure a lesson plan for each lesson or a series of lessons if the students wishes and am more than willing to cover grammar points or topics again for greater understanding if necessary.
I am an enthusiastic teacher, who is engaging, confident and keen for students to progress towards fluent English.
