About me - English
I am a native English speaker from Liverpool, United Kingdom. I have a 2:1 degree in French and English literature, and have taught English as a second language for three years in total. My degree in English literature means I love to read, and I am in tune with current affairs and the world around me. I have a number of hobbies including health and fitness, cooking, travel, reading, cinema, and dance. I love teaching and sharing knowledge, and take pride in my work and helping students succeed.
Qualifications & Experience
I have spent the last two years teaching English at a French university, so have plenty of experience teaching non-native students. I taught students specialising in an English degree, as well as non-specialist students studying a range of subjects such as business, accounting, European studies, law, psychology, art, and engineering. I have also had several private students with different goals: general school support, preparation for the TOEIC exam, and English for travel.
Education:
2013 - 2017 | University of Liverpool | English and French BA(Hons) | 2:1
2011 - 2013 | South Sefton College | English (A), French (B), History (B) | A-Levels
Experience:
2017 - present | Université de Lorraine, Nancy | English Teacher
2018 - present | Self-employed | English Tutor
2015 - 2016 | British Council | English teaching assistant, Paris
2013 - 2017 | University of Liverpool | Student Advocate
Teaching Approach
I always try and tailor lessons to students' interests and specialities. For example, for art students, I found resources related to their field of study in order to make lessons interesting and engaging, but also to teach language useful for their future career. I did this for each speciality I taught in order to tailor lessons to students' needs as best as possible. I have experience teaching English in a variety of ways, to students of all ages and backgrounds, which makes me an adaptable, empathetic, and dedicated teacher.
