About me - English
I am a qualified teacher of English TEFL/CELTA/ESOL. I was born in Italy and raised in Colombia ( South America) and subsequently moved to the UK where I completed my high school education and graduated in English Literature. After teaching Spanish and French at GCSE and A-levels in the North West of England and Wales I decided to move on and qualify as an English teacher for speakers of other languages. I love English, French, Italian and Spanish literature and have a passion for travelling in the countries where these languages are spoken as communication with native speakers and getting involved in their culture is what learning languages is all about.
Qualifications & Experience
I have a degree in English Literature BA grade 2.1 from the University of Chester. A French and Spanish teaching qualification from John Moore University ( Livepool- Uk) and a TEFL/ESOL/CELTA teaching qualification from Cambridge University. I have been teaching for over 10 year in British state schools, summer schools and also at University. I have moved on to private teaching to young adults and adults, in classrooms and one-to-one. I am currently teaching on-line international corporate organizations operating in the pharmaceutical, food and drinks and tourism sectors. I teach on a part-time basis English, Spanish and Italian ex3cutives who are posted overseas and need to settle in the country where the languages I teach are spoken.
Teaching Approach
I have a very pragmatic and interactional approach. I am very patient, kind and full of good humour. I like to establish a cordial and friendly teaching environment with my students. By doing this I succeed in making them overcome the most 'terrible' of all fears when it comes to learning a foreign language: the innate hesitation to speak in a language that is not our native one. My lessons have a very functional approach: my students start from day one to learn how to introduce themselves and how to break the ice. Then we move to other bits of the language: how to talk about yourself and your family, order food and drinks, talk about houses, ask directions etc. The dialogues we naturally do in our native language and that are the very purpose of all language learning: to communicate and to understand what the person speaking that language is telling us.
I also prepare students for their Cambridge and Trinity College examinations, Italian, Spanish and French examinations at all levels.
