Teaching Approach
My approach to teaching is to display great empathy towards students and make students feel I am very approachable. To me, there are no silly questions and there is no place in this world for impatient teachers. I fully understand that English can be very challenging to learn and, like all skills, it takes practice. Therefore, I like to make sure the student gets as much practice as possible.
I have a very strong knowledge of English grammar and I have an abundance of creative methods for helping students understand the structure of the English language. Due to my incredibly diverse employment background, I have developed a vocabulary that is larger than usual, so I can be of great assistance when explaining English vocabulary to students. Whatever assistance the student needs, no matter is too small or too great. Above all, I am here to help.
I use techniques such as Guided Discovery, in which the student is encouraged as much as possible to find meaning and gain understanding of English by examining context. I also emphasize checking a student's understanding even when they indicate they have understood a principle of grammar or syntax by placing extra challenges before them. I can teach grammatical structures such as tenses using both technical methods, such as "time lines", as well as questioning a student's comprehension of meaning after seeing the tenses used in context.
As the prospective student is also a client, I like to make the student feel that they can contribute to the direction of a class, so they are getting what they need out of it.
