I am a CELTA certified Australian citizen who has taught English as a second language for over three years in France, Latvia, and Cambodia. I have a very diverse set of life experiences. I have worked in manufacturing, retail, scientific research, government statistics, police communications, and railway operations.
I have a passion for history and current affairs and as a highly traveled person who has been to over thirty countries on five continents, I am fascinated by the different cultures and languages around the world. I love teaching English. The English language is not only my native language, but it is also a passion of mine.
As a person, I am very calm, sympathetic, and devoted to helping those who need help learning English.
I currently employed in one of the top four English language schools in the world, and I work freelance online.

In addition to my English Language teaching experience, I have a very diverse background, having worked in areas such as Railway Operations, Police Communications, Government Statistics, Scientific Research, Retail, and Manufacturing. I am also widely traveled, having visited over 30 countries on five continents.
My approach to teaching is to display great empathy towards students and make students feel I am very approachable. To me, there are no silly questions and there is no place in this world for impatient teachers. I fully understand that English can be very challenging to learn and, like all skills, it takes practice. Therefore, I like to make sure the student gets as much practice as possible.
I have a very strong knowledge of English grammar and I have an abundance of creative methods for helping students understand the structure of the English language. Due to my incredibly diverse employment background, I have developed a vocabulary that is larger than usual, so I can be of great assistance when explaining English vocabulary to students. Whatever assistance the student needs, no matter is too small or too great. Above all, I am here to help.
I use techniques such as Guided Discovery, in which the student is encouraged as much as possible to find meaning and gain understanding of English by examining context. I also emphasize checking a student's understanding even when they indicate they have understood a principle of grammar or syntax by placing extra challenges before them. I can teach grammatical structures such as tenses using both technical methods, such as "time lines", as well as questioning a student's comprehension of meaning after seeing the tenses used in context.
As the prospective student is also a client, I like to make the student feel that they can contribute to the direction of a class, so they are getting what they need out of it.
