Hello, I am Chris. I am Korean. I have lived as a scientist with my Ph. D. in the fields of biomedical engineering for the first chapter in my life, but I opened my second chapter of my life as a freelance language instructor with a TESOL diploma. While living abroad, I realized the importance of language and decided on my new career as a language instructor because I was interested in language teaching.

I really love teaching Korean abroad. Through online Korean lessons, I can meet many different people in the world and students who want to learn Korean to make their dreams. Hopefully, their dreams come true through my Korean lessons. So, it is my pleasure to help them in learning the Korean Language. I am an experienced teacher who is patient and friendly. I am very dedicated to my students learning process and would even reach out outside of our sessions to better develop their skillset.

In my lessons you will learn a great deal about not only the language, but the history and culture as well. I have schematic lessons which are easy to follow and apps that are useful to practice on your own. I have many students who appreciate my teaching style.

Qualifications & Experience

My background is in Chemistry. I received a doctoral degree in chemical engineering at Yonsei University and KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology) in South Korea.

I have professional teaching skills in many different ways. I taught science and engineering to students as a research professor in the field of biomedical engineering at Korea university after my doctoral course. I have also been trained in the area of biomedical engineering at Harvard University (Brigham Women Hospital) in Boston in the USA.

I have a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages(TESOL) diploma and English teaching experience to Korean who wanted to learn English for over one year. In addition, I am an experienced teacher in the Korean Language School in Canada and online for one year. I provide useful content to students according to their goals. Content is based on the 'King Sejong Institute' which is an overseas educational institution of the Korean language and cultures.

Teaching Approach

I design a curriculum to match the student goals and schedules. Each lesson provides dialogues, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, quiz, summary material, and homework. My lessons are for kids, beginners, intermediate, and people who want to start their business in South Korea. I provide a lesson for a beginner and intermediate-level, consisting of 15 lessons with 2 units, and covers 4 skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The main topics include basic expressions and grammars used in everyday life. Each lesson provides dialogues, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, quizzes, homework, and summary materials. Students can use the language actively and develop communication skills. I will design a curriculum to match your goals and schedule and guide you through each step. Learn once a day, once a week, or anything in between. Anytime, Anywhere You can take lessons at the time and place that suits you.

For kids(Level 1-3) : I can support their ability to learn the Korean language and culture. My tutoring for kids (5~13) makes it fun and easy to learn by using animations in PowerPoint.

For beginners(Level 1-3) : Beginner Level 1 is for students who have not studied Korean before. Students will learn to read and write the Korean alphabet, identify common words concerning themselves and their families, read basic vocabulary, simple questions and answers. Level 2, 3 is for students who have a basic command of the language, are familiar with everyday expressions, can make simple sentences, and can read all characters.

For intermediates(Level 1-3) : First, choose the area that you are interested in. At this intermediate level, you learn a diverse and varied advanced vocabulary. Lessons are for students who can understand and communicate in Korean. This course is ideal for students who can speak Korean with confidence in the present, past, and future simple tenses. All of the words you learn are presented by topic.

For business(12 weeks): This is for anyone who wants to start a business in Korea. If you're looking to work in South Korea, knowing how to properly communicate with Koreans including your boss, co-workers, business partners, and their cultures is crucial for success. I will provide 12 lessons for your business in Korea.
